- 64 - Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient Lt. Michael Murphy
Michael Patrick Murphy (May 7, 1976?June 28, 2005) was a United States Navy SEAL posthumously awarded the United States military's highest decoration, the Medal of Honor, for his actions during the current War in Afghanistan. He was the first person to be awarded the medal for actions in Afghanistan; and the first member of the U.S. Navy to receive the award since the Vietnam War.

Barry Hanley
Barry Hanley is a thirty-year old Irishman living in Longview, Texas, (Hometown of actor Matthew McConaughey), and married to a former Texan beauty queen with two daughters. Originally from Tuam, Co. Galway, Barry has been living in the U.S. for six years. As a child he lived in Bolivia, Oman, Canada and Zambia as his parents were teachers with a dose of wonderlust. Barry has written for The Irish Independent, The Tuam Herald, Rugby World and the Shreveport Times (Louisiana). He plays rugby for Shreveport Rugby Club and has fought in an East Texas Toughman competition. Taking time out from being a Firefighter in Austin, Texas, Barry tells us the story of the remarkable comeback of football quarterback Colt Brennan.
Joe Kavanagh
Joe Kavanagh from Wicklow Town, has managed recently, among other things, to become a member of a rock and roll band. Having performed a number of high profile gigs supporting such Irish rock luminaries as Snow Patrol, The Frank and Walters and Pony Club, the band also opened for legendary Liverpool act The La's, for their first gig in over a decade. The band has also attracted an increasing number of supporters behind the scenes in the Irish music inductry, with their most vocal champions being 2FM's Dan Hegarty, Dave Flanning and Larry Goga, Today FM's Alison Curtis and the radio stations Red FM in Cork and Beat FM in Waterford.
Roger Wang
When it comes to shooting the stars in New York and further afield it is hard to compare with our photographer Rager Wang. Roger has been in the entertainment industry for many years and his work has graced the pages of Irish Connections since the birth of the magazine. The Manhattan native keeps an ear to the ground when it comes to celebrity appeorances in the Big Apple and is canstontly on the go at premiers and star-studded events. In this issue Roger presents his regular spread of shots of the world's most famous and beautiful people in our 'Premiers' feature.
Heidi Gross Kelley
Though Irish through association, Heidi enjoys the opportunity to "get the Irish word out" through Irish Connections. Before joining Irish Connections, Heidi was Art Director of The World of Hibernia as well as the designer for Irish Today. Heidi received her BFA in graphic design at the University of the Arts in 1988 and has since worked os a designer in both the corporate and publishing world. Heidi has won numerous awards for her editorial designs, including recently a bronze medal for the Natallie Coughlin cover of Irish Connections Magazine (Vol:5, No:4). Her future plans for the magazine include bringing home the gold! Heidi is married to Sean Kelley and has two children, John and Caitriona.
