Enya
Eithne Ni Bhraonoin

Enya is one of the world's best-known female artists of the '90s, having sold an astonishing 60 million albums worldwide. She ranks alongside Cher, Tina Turner, Madonna and Whitney Houston in total Sales. She has been nominated for five Grammy Awards, winning The Best New Age Album for Shepherd Moons in 1992, The Memory Of Trees in 1996, and A Day Without Rain in 2002. Enya's total sales have propelled her to the position of Ireland's best-selling solo artist ever. Although fronted by Enya, the music released under her name is the result of a collaboration between Enya, producer Nicky Ryan and lyricist Roma Ryan. Enya has stated that without any one of them, 'Enya' would not exist.

Eurovision Song Contest

Organized by the national TV broadcasting companies in Europe, Ireland have won the Eurovision Song Contest a record 7 times: 1970, 80, 87, 92, 93, 94, and 96, and hosted each Eurovision the following years. The winners were: 1970 - Dana - 'All Kinds of Everything," 1980 - Johnny Logan - "What's Another Year," 1987 Johnny Logan - "Hold Me Now," 1992 Linda Martin - "Why Me," 1993 - Niamh Kavanagh - "In Your Eyes," 1994 - Paul Harrington and Charlie McGettigan "Rock 'n' Roll Kids," 1996 - Eimear Quinn - "The Voice."
